Accountant

Job Description

Our client in the security sector, with operations across the East African region, is seeking a skilled Accountant to join their team in Kampala, Uganda. This role is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, supporting financial reporting, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and statutory requirements, and contributing to the organization’s financial efficiency. The position reports to the Finance Manager and offers excellent career development opportunities within a fast-growing multinational organization. The role is based in Kampala, and the ideal candidate must be a Ugandan national. Key Responsibilities - Prepare and maintain accurate financial records, including general ledger entries, reconciliations, and supporting documentation. - Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, management reports, and other financial analyses. - Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, and bank reconciliations to ensure accurate and timely processing of transactions. - Support budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and financial planning activities to drive business performance. - Ensure compliance with tax regulations, statutory reporting requirements, accounting standards, and internal financial controls. - Coordinate external audits, maintain audit-ready financial records, and build effective relationships with auditors, financial institutions, and regulatory bodies.

Requirements

Key Qualifications - Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related field; CPA, ACCA, or an equivalent professional qualification is an added advantage. - 3–5 years of experience in accounting, financial reporting, bookkeeping, or a similar finance role. - Proven experience in preparing financial statements, managing accounts payable and receivable, bank reconciliations, and maintaining general ledger accounts. - Strong knowledge of tax compliance, statutory reporting, payroll processing, financial controls, and accounting standards. - Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel; experience with ERP systems, budgeting, cash flow management, and financial analysis is an added advantage. - Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills, with high attention to detail, integrity, and the ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines.
