Human Resources /Administrative Officer
Job Description
The Human Resources /Administrative Officer will assist with all routine personnel and administrative functions for the National Institute for Medical Research (NIMR). Primary duties include recruiting study personnel, maintaining project personnel records, coordinating and keeping records of staff training, ensuring staff compliance with labour laws, institutional policies, and donor requirements, and assisting in monitoring staff performance against project objectives. The role requires strong written and verbal communication skills, the ability to work independently and collaboratively with investigators and stakeholders, and a demonstrated commitment to excellence, work efficiency, innovativeness, and teamwork in implementing projects. The officer will also assist in validation of staff payroll, preparation of staff appointment letters and contracts, and will work within a collaborative research environment alongside international partners such as Rigshospitalet in Denmark and the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine in the UK.
Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Public Administration, Human Resource Management, Human Resources Planning Management, Industrial Relations, Business Administration (HRM) or equivalent qualifications from recognised institutions; at least 2 years of working experience with NIMR projects in an administrative position; demonstrated commitment to excellence, work efficiency, innovativeness, and teamwork; strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to work independently and collaboratively; application letters must be written in English; academic certificates obtained outside the country must be approved by Tanzania Commission of Universities; applicants must attach detailed relevant certified copies of academic certificates including Form Four and Six certificates.
