Claims Officer

Job Description

The Claims Officer is responsible for managing the end-to-end claims process, ensuring claims are handled accurately, efficiently, and in compliance with company policies. The role also involves coordinating with policyholders, brokers, service providers, and internal teams to facilitate timely claims resolution and maintain excellent customer service. Responsibilities: - Registering of new claims - Acknowledge claim intimation and calling for the relevant documents - Sending reminders to brokers for documents which have not yet been submitted. - Giving instructions to service providers after the decision for such instructions has been made by the relevant person - Following up with service providers especially for submission of preliminary or final reports - Preparing the monthly report and other required statistical reports - Guiding policy holders on how to process a claim - Preparing claim notes - Forwarding documents to service providers and brokers/agents as required by way of fax, emails (through the supervisor), photocopies, etc. - Preparing discharge vouchers along with covering letters - Responding to queries from brokers/agents and service providers through telephone, letters and emails - Putting up files for payments after receipt of duly executed discharge vouchers - Putting up files for payment of service providers’ fees - Following up with Accounts department to ensure cheques and credit notes have been issued promptly - Reviewing files to ensure that they are up to date especially with regard to reserves - Attending on site assessments/investigations/surveys as may be directed by the supervisor - Participate in recommending risk improvement measures - Any other duty as may be assigned by your supervisor or management

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Insurance, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field; Professional certification such as CII, ACII, or equivalent is an added advantage; Minimum of 2 years of experience in claims processing or a related role within the insurance industry; Strong analytical skills with proficiency in Microsoft Excel and QuickBooks; Excellent communication and negotiation skills; Attention to detail and ability to work under pressure; Knowledge of insurance policies, regulations, and claim assessment procedures; Proficiency in both English and Swahili is desirable.
