Clinical Trial Data Manager
Job Description
The Clinical Trial Data Manager will oversee the daily management of clinical trial data for assigned studies/projects within the PHOTON Trial. This role ensures all data management activities adhere to Good Clinical Practice (GCP), study protocols, regulatory requirements, and departmental Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Key responsibilities include designing, developing, validating, implementing, and maintaining Electronic Data Capture (EDC) systems using REDCap; developing applications for participant scheduling, study workflow automation, and visit management; ensuring clinical trial databases and supporting applications are secure, reliable, validated, and fit for purpose; maintaining high standards of data quality, integrity, confidentiality, and regulatory compliance throughout the trial lifecycle; translating protocols into electronic data capture systems; configuring branching logic, calculated fields, validation rules, automated alerts, and user roles in REDCap; developing Python applications for participant scheduling, visit windows, reminders, rescheduling, and operational workflow automation; integrating Python applications with REDCap APIs and external systems; developing dashboards, reports, and analysis-ready datasets; performing routine data cleaning, discrepancy management, and quality assurance; supporting monitoring visits, audits, database lock, and study close-out; developing SOPs, user guides, and providing staff training; and providing regular progress reports to the Data Management Lead. The role reports to the Principal Investigator, Data Management Lead, or Project Coordinator and collaborates with investigators, statisticians, clinicians, laboratory staff, IT teams, monitors, and sponsors.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Health Informatics, or a related discipline; Minimum of 3 years of clinical data management experience; Advanced REDCap database development experience; Strong Python programming skills; Experience with SQL and Microsoft Excel; Knowledge of R and/or Stata is desirable; Excellent communication, attention to detail, and organizational skills; Willingness and flexibility to travel as required; Demonstrated commitment to scientific excellence, work efficiency, innovativeness, and teamwork; Ability to work constructively in a large team.
