Food Fortification Specialist

The Food Fortification Specialist will play a critical role in designing, implementing, and monitoring food fortification programs to combat micronutrient deficiencies in vulnerable populations. Primary responsibilities include developing national fortification strategies in alignment with WFP’s nutrition and food security objectives, providing technical guidance to governments and partners on fortification standards and regulations, and overseeing the integration of fortification into WFP’s food assistance programs. The specialist will conduct needs assessments, coordinate with local and international stakeholders, and ensure compliance with international fortification guidelines. Additionally, the role involves training and capacity-building for local staff and partners, monitoring and evaluating program impact, and advocating for policy changes to support sustainable fortification initiatives. Work will be conducted in a dynamic, multicultural environment with frequent travel to field locations. The position requires close collaboration with WFP’s nutrition, supply chain, and program teams to ensure fortification is effectively integrated into broader food assistance efforts.

Advanced university degree (Master’s or equivalent) in Nutrition, Food Science, Public Health, or a related field; Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in food fortification, nutrition programming, or public health, with at least 3 years in a technical or advisory role; Demonstrated experience in developing national fortification policies or strategies; Strong knowledge of international fortification standards (e.g., WHO, FAO, Codex Alimentarius); Experience in conducting needs assessments, monitoring, and evaluation in food and nutrition programs; Excellent analytical, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills; Fluency in English (both written and verbal) is mandatory; Knowledge of French or Arabic is highly desirable; Ability to work in high-pressure environments and travel frequently (up to 30% of the time); Commitment to WFP’s core values (Integrity, Collaboration, Commitment, Humanity, and Inclusion).
