Job Description
The overall purpose of this role is to oversee patient care both outpatient and inpatient and ensure continuity of care in line with established protocols and the hospital’s patient care objectives. Primary duties include maintaining accurate, complete healthcare reports and records for all patients; administering medications to patients and monitoring them for side effects and reactions; recording patients’ vital signs and medical information; and monitoring, reporting, and recording patients’ progress, symptoms, or changes in patient conditions. The role involves ordering and evaluating diagnostic tests in liaison with doctors to identify and assess patient’s condition, consulting and coordinating with healthcare team members to assess, plan, implement or evaluate patient care plans, and monitoring all aspects of patient care, including diet and physical activity. Additional responsibilities include assessing and planning nursing care requirements, including treatment plans and operating medical equipment; treating medical emergencies such as heart attacks, strokes, car accidents, and burns, as well as recovering post-operative patients; planning and conducting community health activities; conducting minor theatre procedures as per license and Nursing Council guidelines; billing patients for all services given; and ensuring that ventilators, monitors, and other types of medical equipment are in good working condition. The role may also include other duties as assigned from time to time.
Requirements
Diploma in Kenya Registered Community Health Nurse (KRCHN) or Kenya Registered Nurse (KRN). Basic Life Support /Advanced Cardiac Life Support and any other specialty certification will be an added advantage. Minimum of five (5) years’ continuous nursing experience in a busy Level 5 hospital Valid practicing license. Excellent customer care, communication and public relations skills. Professional, friendly attitude.
