Programme Coordinator (Migration Management) (P)
Job Description
Under the overall guidance of the Chief of Mission and direct supervision of the Head of Programme and Policy Development, and in close cooperation with Programme Managers and Head of Sub Offices, the Programme Coordinator (Migration Management) will be responsible for the implementation, oversight, and coordination of IOM Kenya’s Migration Management programme portfolio. This includes fields of labour mobility, immigration and border governance, and migrant protection. Key responsibilities involve overseeing country-specific policies and strategies, developing new projects to address migration management needs, ensuring coherent project operations, and providing timely, accurate information to stakeholders. The role requires alignment with Government of Kenya priorities, integration of cross-cutting issues (gender, age, disability, environment, protection), and supervision of staff responsible for project implementation. Additional duties include identifying new opportunities, ensuring compliance with donor reporting procedures, liaising with donors, and undertaking duty travel for assessments and project monitoring.
Requirements
Master’s degree in Social Sciences, International Relations, Development Studies, Law, or a related field from an accredited academic institution with at least five years of relevant professional experience; OR Bachelor’s degree in the above fields with seven years of relevant professional experience. Accredited Universities are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database. Professional experience in labour mobility, diaspora engagement, immigration and border governance, and migrant protection programming; experience in migration management-related projects in various contexts; strong project implementation and management experience, including monitoring and reporting; demonstrated experience in policy and strategy development; experience working in complex settings; previous work experience in East and Horn of Africa and IGAD region, particularly with the UN, is an advantage. Excellent written and verbal communication and negotiation skills; good knowledge of project management and monitoring and evaluation; proven resource management skills; familiarity with budget/financial administration; good knowledge of migration-related subject areas; ability to supervise interventions and coordinate administrative activities; strong ability to work with local authorities, stakeholders, and beneficiaries; works effectively in high-pressure environments; coordinates actions with all relevant actors; supports effective information sharing; ability to think creatively and strategically; good interpersonal communication and presentation skills. Fluency in English (oral and written) is required; working knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, Spanish) is an advantage.
