UNICEF Internship Assignment - Construction Engineer

This internship opportunity is for Construction Engineers to support UNICEF's infrastructure development and maintenance projects in Juba, South Sudan. The role involves assisting in the planning, design, and execution of construction activities, ensuring compliance with engineering standards and UNICEF's operational guidelines. The intern will work under the supervision of senior engineers, contributing to the delivery of safe, sustainable, and child-friendly infrastructure. Key responsibilities include conducting site assessments, preparing technical reports, assisting in procurement processes, and supporting the implementation of construction projects in line with UNICEF's humanitarian mandate. The intern will also participate in coordination meetings with stakeholders, including government agencies, contractors, and community representatives, to ensure project alignment with local needs and UNICEF's strategic priorities.

Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, or a related field; enrolled in or recently completed an accredited engineering program; basic knowledge of construction methodologies, building codes, and safety standards; familiarity with AutoCAD or similar drafting software; strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to work in a team and under pressure; proficiency in English (additional local languages are an asset); commitment to UNICEF’s mission and values.
