Information Management Specialist - Nutrition

Job Description

Under the overall direction and guidance of the Chief of Field Office, Moroto, the IM Specialist (Nutrition) will be responsible for ensuring IM processes effectively contribute to a well-coordinated, strategic, adequate, coherent, and effective response by stakeholders. The role involves leading and managing the collection, analysis, and sharing of information that is essential for the Uganda Country Office and Moroto Field Office to make informed, evidence-based, strategic decisions. Key responsibilities include creating and implementing an IM strategy, data collection, and analysis plan aligned with stakeholder needs and ethical data management standards. The position requires coordinating overall data quality assurance to ensure accuracy, validity, completeness, consistency, and timeliness. The specialist will conduct data processing tasks such as organizing, cleaning, triangulating, evaluating, and validating data, while contributing to the preparation of information materials like fact sheets, backgrounders, and data tables. Additionally, the role involves developing infographics, dashboards, and maps to support UNICEF’s programming and evidence generation. The specialist will implement regular secondary data reviews and primary data collection, including designing questionnaires using appropriate tools, and maintaining a common and shared secure storage system. Active engagement with other IMs through relevant IMWGs and OCHA is required, along with collaboration with stakeholders to identify and bridge information gaps at national and sub-national levels. The position also involves providing technical advice and support to partners and working closely with the ICT Team to implement innovative solutions for data collection and dissemination, such as AI and mobile tools.

Requirements

Advanced university degree (Master’s or equivalent) in Information Management, Data Science, Statistics, Public Health, Nutrition, or a related field; Bachelor’s degree with relevant experience may be considered; Minimum 5 years of progressively responsible professional experience in information management, data analysis, or a related field; Experience in designing and implementing information management strategies and data collection plans; Proficiency in data processing, cleaning, and analysis tools (e.g., Excel, SPSS, R, Python, SQL); Experience in developing infographics, dashboards, and maps; Strong understanding of ethical data management and information security protocols; Experience in collaborating with stakeholders and technical teams; Excellent communication and analytical skills; Fluency in English (additional UN languages are an asset); Experience working in humanitarian or development contexts is highly desirable.
