Plumber

The University of Kigali seeks a qualified and professional Plumber to install, maintain, and repair plumbing systems, fixtures, and piping across campus buildings, including student residential, academic, and laboratory facilities. The role involves preventative maintenance, emergency repairs, reading blueprints, ensuring code compliance, and managing work orders. Responsibilities include repairing water leaks, mending burst pipes, unclogging drains, maintaining water heaters, toilets, faucets, and showers, and responding to urgent 24/7 emergency calls (e.g., floods, burst pipes) during weekends, nights, and holidays. The position also requires installing new pipes and fixtures, maintaining specialized equipment such as laboratory water softeners, distillation units, reverse osmosis systems, and backflow preventers, and supporting high-pressure steam lines, sewage systems, and external drain systems. Administrative duties include managing work orders via smartphones or computers, ordering parts, sourcing materials, and maintaining equipment inventories, as well as interpreting blueprints and adhering to safety codes (OSHA, building codes).

A University Degree in Plumbing or Advanced Diploma (A1) in Plumbing; demonstrated experience in plumbing installation, maintenance, and repair; familiarity with specialized plumbing systems (e.g., laboratory water softeners, reverse osmosis systems); ability to read blueprints and adhere to safety codes (OSHA, building codes); proficiency in work order management systems; strong problem-solving skills for emergency repairs; ability to work independently and respond to urgent calls during non-business hours.
