Associate Director, Supply Chain Management

The Associate Director, Supply Chain Management provides strategic and technical leadership to strengthen Tanzania’s public health supply chain and pharmaceutical services. This role ensures sustainable access to safe, effective, and quality-assured health commodities by overseeing national and sub-national supply chain systems. Responsibilities include building personnel capacity to manage health commodities procured through national/local systems, strengthening pharmaceutical management systems, and enhancing quality pharmaceutical services and national regulatory systems. Reporting to the Technical Director, the incumbent shapes the overall strategic direction and oversees the execution of supply chain portfolios. Key duties involve leading the design and implementation of innovations in the supply chain ecosystem, documenting best practices, ensuring successful planning, quality implementation, performance monitoring, and evaluation of all components of the supply chain activity. The role also involves setting measurable performance indicators aligned with project objectives and donor priorities, providing technical leadership and oversight to the project's supply chain team, fostering a culture of high performance, collaboration, accountability, and continuous learning, and leading the supply chain work-planning process in collaboration with project leadership.

Demonstrated experience managing donor-funded projects in developing countries; considerable working experience leading large and complex supply chains and/or managing large health supply chain technical assistance projects in low- and middle-income countries; strong leadership and strategic planning skills; ability to oversee implementation of supply chain activities and monitor progress against approved work plans, milestones, indicators, and budgets; experience in identifying implementation risks and operational challenges and developing mitigation strategies; sound management and oversight of consultants, sub-partners, and technical teams; experience in coordinating and overseeing the preparation and quality assurance of donor reports, technical updates, work plans, success stories, presentations, and other required deliverables related to supply chain activities.
