Job Description
The Logistics Officer will be responsible for managing and coordinating logistics operations to ensure the timely and efficient delivery of food assistance and other relief items to beneficiaries in targeted areas. Key responsibilities include overseeing warehouse operations, managing inventory, coordinating transportation, and ensuring compliance with logistics policies and procedures. The role involves working closely with procurement teams, field offices, and external partners to optimize supply chain processes and respond to emergency situations. The officer will also monitor logistics performance, report on key indicators, and recommend improvements to enhance operational efficiency. This position requires a strong understanding of logistics management principles, including warehousing, inventory control, and transportation coordination, as well as the ability to work in high-pressure environments.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field; minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience in logistics management, preferably in the humanitarian or development sector; experience in warehouse management, inventory control, and transportation coordination; proficiency in logistics software and tools (e.g., SAP, Oracle); strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to work under pressure and in challenging environments; excellent communication and teamwork skills; fluency in English and French is highly desirable; knowledge of local languages in the duty station is an asset.
