Study Coordinator

Job Description

The Study Coordinator will play a pivotal role in the coordination, implementation, and dissemination of a cluster-randomised trial aimed at testing a novel nutritional intervention to prevent tuberculosis among household contacts in Tanzania (the PHOTON Trial). Primary responsibilities include coordinating trial preparation activities, leading efforts to recruit participants, administering study interventions, and assessing study outcomes. The role involves engaging stakeholders to promote study uptake and maintain exceptionally high retention rates throughout the trial. The coordinator will work closely with investigators and stakeholders, ensuring adherence to scientific excellence, efficiency, and teamwork in implementing research projects. The position requires a high level of motivation and the ability to meet tight deadlines while maintaining a strong commitment to scientific rigor and ethical standards.

Requirements

Holding a medical degree and a good master’s degree in Epidemiology, Clinical Trials, Public Health, or a related field from recognized universities; demonstrated experience in writing and publishing scientific work with at least two published quantitative research articles; demonstrated experience in presenting research findings to stakeholders and in scientific platforms; working experience in health research of at least 2 years; licensed by the Tanganyika Medical Council to practice as a medical practitioner; strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to work independently and collaboratively with investigators and stakeholders; applicants must indicate two reputable referees who will be contacted before recruitment; application letters must be written in English and in font size 12 Times New Roman; applicants must attach detailed relevant certified copies of academic certificates including Form Four and Six certificates (certificates obtained outside Tanzania must be approved by the Tanzania Commission of Universities).
