WASH Facilitator – Fixed term contract
Job Description
The WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene) Facilitator will be responsible for designing, implementing, and monitoring WASH programs in targeted communities, with a focus on Kigeme refugee camp and Kigali. Key responsibilities include conducting needs assessments, developing WASH action plans, training community members and local stakeholders on hygiene practices, and ensuring the proper maintenance and sustainability of WASH infrastructure such as latrines, water points, and handwashing stations. The role involves close collaboration with local authorities, NGOs, and refugee communities to promote behavior change and improve access to safe water and sanitation. Additionally, the Facilitator will coordinate with other sectors (e.g., health, nutrition) to integrate WASH interventions into broader development initiatives, ensuring a holistic approach to community well-being.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health, Public Health, Civil Engineering, or a related field; minimum of 3 years of professional experience in WASH program implementation, preferably in humanitarian or refugee settings; strong knowledge of WASH standards and guidelines (e.g., SPHERE, Sphere Standards); experience in community mobilization, training, and participatory approaches; proficiency in English and French (Kinyarwanda is an asset); excellent communication, coordination, and reporting skills; ability to work in challenging environments and adapt to cultural contexts; familiarity with monitoring and evaluation tools for WASH programs.
