Midwife

INTERSOS is urgently seeking three Somali National Midwives to support primary and secondary health activities at Jowhar Regional Referral Hospital (JRRH) in Middle Shebelle, Somalia. The Midwives will provide high-quality Basic Emergency Obstetric and Newborn Care (BEmONC) services, including immunization, ante-natal care, delivery, and postnatal care. Responsibilities include preparing mothers for labor and childbirth, implementing BEmONC interventions, providing health education and counseling on breastfeeding and infant care, monitoring patient health conditions, maintaining medical records, and preparing periodic reports. Midwives will also conduct home visits, provide patient referrals, track medical supply inventory, administer medication, and contribute to team efforts by accomplishing related results. The role requires working closely with INTERSOS partners, following health laws and regulations, and performing duties in a professional and adaptable manner. Midwives are expected to support the mission, vision, and core values of INTERSOS while ensuring a tidy and safe clinical environment.

Bachelor or diploma in midwifery from a well-recognized institution with specialization in maternal neonatal care; minimum of two years’ professional work experience; excellent communication skills (oral and written); computer skills (Word and Excel); knowledge of local language (Somali) is mandatory; spoken and written English language is an added advantage; relevant further qualification in medical training; previous experience working for NGOs is an asset; excellent self-motivation and decision-making skills; ability to cope with stressful situations and frustrations; Somali national, able to work in Middle Shabelle Region.
