Security Associate, G-6

The Local Security Associate reports to the Security Officer for supervision and provides technical, operational, and administrative assistance to ensure the safety and security of personnel and their eligible family members. The role involves safeguarding UNICEF premises, assets, and resources at the duty station in Jalalabad or Kandahar, Afghanistan. Responsibilities include implementing security plans, conducting physical security surveys, managing access control, coordinating crisis response, and delivering security training. The incumbent must strictly comply with UN security policies, rules, and supervisor instructions while maintaining a high standard of professionalism and accountability. This position requires meticulous attention to detail and the ability to work in high-risk environments to protect UNICEF staff and operations.

Completion of secondary education, supplemented by relevant technical/security/military/police courses and/or university courses in a relevant discipline, or security studies, law enforcement, military science, criminal justice, public administration, international relations and any other related fields; A minimum of 6 years of progressively responsible experience in a security-related environment or security operations, security management, risk assessment, emergency preparedness, incident management, access control, crisis response, liaison and coordination, training and capacity building, safety compliance and any other related fields; Physical Security Surveys, Security Plan, Security training certification, military courses, police courses; Proficiency in English is required; Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) or a local language (Pashto, Dari) is desirable; NGO or INGO experience, particularly in development, fragile settings and humanitarian contexts is desirable.
