Senior Hydrologist

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Hydrologist to join our dynamic team at Professional Engineering Consultants (PEC). The successful candidate will lead and oversee hydrological studies, water resource assessments, and environmental impact evaluations. Key responsibilities include designing and implementing hydrological models, analyzing water availability and quality, and providing expert recommendations for sustainable water management solutions. The role involves close collaboration with government agencies, private sector clients, and international partners to develop and execute projects that address water scarcity, flooding risks, and climate change impacts. Additionally, the Senior Hydrologist will mentor junior staff, prepare technical reports, and present findings to stakeholders, ensuring compliance with national and international water resource regulations.

Bachelor's degree in Hydrology, Water Resources Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field; Master's degree preferred. Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in hydrology, water resource management, or environmental engineering; Professional certification in hydrology or water resources is a strong plus. Proficiency in hydrological modeling software (e.g., HEC-HMS, MIKE 11, SWAT) and GIS tools (ArcGIS, QGIS). Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills. Excellent written and verbal communication abilities in English. Experience working in multidisciplinary teams and familiarity with Ugandan water resource regulations and policies.
