Programme Officer - Digital Futures Kenya

Job Description

The Programme Officer will play a crucial role in implementing a five-year programme in Kenya, in partnership with Mastercard Foundation and Digital Futures. The initiative aims to improve access to dignified and fulfilling work for 12,200 young people with disabilities, with at least 70% being women, while engaging an additional 14,700 through community outreach. The role involves programme implementation and coordination, including developing annual work plans, budgets, and activity schedules. Key responsibilities include coordinating digital, IT, and entrepreneurship training, managing partner engagement, supporting capacity strengthening on disability inclusion and safeguarding, and facilitating employer engagement to link participants with mentorships, internships, and job opportunities. The role also involves compliance and quality assurance, ensuring adherence to financial monitoring, disability-inclusive practices, safeguarding, child protection, and data protection standards. Additionally, the Programme Officer will collect, verify, and analyse programme data in line with MEAL frameworks, conduct field visits, learner assessments, partner supervision, and follow-up on beneficiaries’ progress.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, ICT, Education, Development Studies, Disability Studies, Business, or related field; Demonstrated experience in project implementation within NGO, social impact, skills development, or youth employment programmes; Experience in digital skills training programmes, entrepreneurship promotion, or labour market initiatives; Knowledge of Kenyan policies related to disability inclusion, digital transformation, and youth employment; Experience supporting Business and Disability Networks or private sector engagement; Demonstrated ability to lead, manage, and effectively function as a team member and respect diversity in a team; Experience working with youth, TVET institutions, private sector employers, and/or OPDs; Strong coordination, communication, and partnership-building skills; Demonstrable working experience of disability inclusion, gender equality principles, and inclusive employment principles.
