This role oversees end-to-end credit risk management and administration. Key responsibilities include examining loan applications, enforcing policy guidelines, monitoring delinquency and non-performing loans, and conducting regular audits. It also involves refining collection policies, training credit staff, and managing portfolio health to minimize operational losses. Key tasks/accountabilities Monitoring loan review activities in areas of operation to minimize losses and ensuring that lending practices adhere to the existing policy guidelinesFormulating and recommending enhancement of credit collection guidelines, policies and proceduresExamining all loan applications and ensuring adequacy and completeness of pre-loan eligibility requirements; client screening criteria, loan approval authority, repayment terms and incentives, delinquency and default managementImplementing effective delinquency measurement and loan loss monitoring procedures for all lending operations, loan processing, and training credit management staff on credit risk managementOverseeing the day-to-day management of the credit administration functions and credit risk management processes for all areas under operationMonitoring loan accounts, loan repayments and delinquent accounts and write-offs to be in the acceptable past due rate.Ensuring that the credit granting transactions are based primarily on the strength of the borrower’s paying capacityClose monitoring of non-performing loans and providing periodic status reports to the Head of Credit Operations.Ensuring regular audits and spot checks and ensuring that lending policies and loan administration activities adhere to the existing policy guidelines, including adequacy and security of collateralMaintaining the portfolio of the institution and ensuring that it is to the required standard as per the policyEvaluating regularly and periodically and reporting on loan accounts with respective credit limits reflecting the risk associated with the near-term liquidation of positions in the event of default Academic and professional qualifications At least a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Commerce, Economics, Development Studies plus three years’ relevant experience or a Diploma plus five years’ relevant experienceAt least 3 years of working experience in a busy Financial Institution work environment Work experience Experience in Microfinance, banking, financial management, investment advisory, small and medium business development and marketingExperience in the use of various analytical financial methodologies and execution of different development financial products and services, credit and default managementProven ability to seek timely, cost-effective and efficient solutions which ensure value for moneyExperience in managing staff.
