Job Description
The Senior Special Advisor and Coordinator will provide high-level strategic guidance and leadership to Girl Effect's initiatives in Ethiopia. This role involves designing and implementing programs that empower adolescent girls through media and technology, ensuring content is culturally relevant and impactful. The consultant will oversee program delivery, monitor progress against key performance indicators, and ensure alignment with Girl Effect's mission of creating safe spaces for girls to access information on health, nutrition, education, and relationships. They will collaborate closely with local stakeholders, including government agencies, NGOs, and community leaders, to foster partnerships and scale interventions. Additionally, the role requires advocacy at national and regional levels to influence policies that support girls' empowerment. The consultant will report to the Country Director and work with a multidisciplinary team to achieve measurable outcomes.
Requirements
Master's degree in International Development, Gender Studies, Public Health, Education, or a related field; minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in program management, advisory roles, or senior consultancy within international development or non-profit sectors; demonstrated expertise in gender equality, adolescent programming, and media for development; strong analytical, strategic planning, and coordination skills; experience working in Ethiopia or the Horn of Africa region; proficiency in English (additional local languages are an advantage); excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities; familiarity with monitoring and evaluation frameworks for development programs.
