Career with BRAC Tanzania Finance Limited Communications Officer BRAC Tanzania Finance Limited (BTFL) is the largest Microfinance organization in Tanzania, dedicated to empowering low-income individuals and communities through financial inclusion, enterprise development, and employment opportunities. We are seeking a dynamic and creative Communications Officer to join our team. The Communications Officer will be responsible for developing and implementing strategic communication plans to enhance BTFL’s brand visibility, engage stakeholders, and promote our mission of financial inclusion. Key Responsibilities: 1. Brand Management and Communication Strategy: - Develop and execute comprehensive communication strategies aligned with BTFL’s mission and goals. - Create and maintain a consistent brand identity across all communication channels, including digital, print, and social media. - Manage BTFL’s corporate image and reputation, ensuring alignment with organizational values and objectives. 2. Content Creation and Management: - Produce high-quality written content, including press releases, articles, newsletters, reports, and other communication materials. - Develop engaging multimedia content such as videos, infographics, and social media posts. - Oversee the creation and updating of BTFL’s website and intranet content. 3. Media Relations and Publicity: - Build and maintain strong relationships with local, national, and international media outlets. - Serve as the primary point of contact for media inquiries and coordinate interviews with BTFL’s leadership and experts. - Monitor media coverage and manage crisis communications when necessary. 4. Stakeholder Engagement: - Develop and implement strategies to engage key stakeholders, including clients, partners, donors, and government agencies. - Organize and coordinate events, webinars, and public forums to promote BTFL’s initiatives and achievements. - Represent BTFL at conferences, seminars, and other public forums. 5. Digital and Social Media Management: - Manage BTFL’s social media presence, including Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, and YouTube. - Develop and implement social media strategies to increase engagement and reach. - Monitor and analyze social media performance and adjust strategies as needed. 6. Internal Communications: - Develop and implement internal communication strategies to ensure staff are informed and engaged. - Produce internal newsletters, memos, and other communication materials. - Organize town hall meetings and other forums for staff engagement. 7. Monitoring and Evaluation: - Track and report on the effectiveness of communication strategies and campaigns. - Gather feedback from stakeholders and adjust communication strategies as needed. - Conduct research and analysis to inform communication strategies. 8. Fundraising and Partnership Development: - Support fundraising efforts by developing compelling communication materials and proposals. - Collaborate with the fundraising team to identify and pursue partnership opportunities. 9. Compliance and Reporting: - Ensure all communication materials comply with relevant laws, regulations, and organizational policies. - Prepare regular reports on communication activities and outcomes for senior management and the board. 10. Innovation and Continuous Improvement: - Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and best practices in communications and digital marketing. - Identify opportunities for innovation and continuous improvement in BTFL’s communication strategies.

Requirements

Qualifications and Experience: - Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field. A master’s degree is an added advantage. - Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience in communications, public relations, journalism, or a related field. - Proven experience in developing and executing communication strategies and campaigns. - Strong writing and editing skills, with a portfolio of published work. - Experience in managing social media and digital marketing campaigns. - Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with stakeholders. - Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. - Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a high level of professionalism and integrity. - Fluency in English and Swahili, both written and verbal. Knowledge of other local languages is an added advantage. - Proficiency in using communication tools and software, such as Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, and social media management platforms. - Experience in the financial inclusion or microfinance sector is an added advantage. - Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think creatively and strategically.
