IT Officer

An Information Technology (IT) Officer installs, maintains, and troubleshoots an organization's tech infrastructure. They manage hardware and software, maintain networks, safeguard data, and provide direct user support. The role involves installing, configuring, and maintaining computer hardware, software, and networks. The IT Officer is responsible for troubleshooting hardware and software issues, including desktops, laptops, printers, and servers. They provide technical support to users, resolving IT-related problems efficiently. Ensuring the security of IT systems is a critical responsibility, including data backup, antivirus protection, and access controls. The role also includes managing and monitoring network infrastructure, such as routers, switches, firewalls, and VPNs. The IT Officer implements and enforces IT policies, procedures, and standards to ensure compliance and security. They evaluate and recommend new technologies, tools, and solutions to improve efficiency and productivity across the organization. Collaboration with other departments is essential to understand and address IT needs and requirements. The role involves planning and executing IT projects, including upgrades, migrations, and installations. Documenting IT systems, configurations, and procedures is required for knowledge sharing and training purposes.

Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field; 3+ years of experience in IT support or systems administration; Proficiency in hardware installation, configuration, and maintenance; Strong troubleshooting skills for hardware, software, and network issues; Experience with network infrastructure including routers, switches, firewalls, and VPNs; Knowledge of data backup procedures and antivirus protection; Familiarity with IT security best practices and access controls; Ability to evaluate and recommend new technologies; Excellent communication skills for providing user support and collaborating with departments; Experience with IT project planning and execution.
