Sales Manager - Steel Trading
Job Description
Our client, an international manufacturing & trading company, is seeking an experienced Sales Manager to drive the sale of steel products across Kenya and neighbouring African markets. The ideal candidate will manage the full sales process from quotation to delivery and payment collection, while developing new business opportunities and expanding market reach. Responsibilities include building and maintaining strong relationships with steel manufacturers, fabricators, distributors, and industrial customers; conducting market research to identify potential customers and emerging opportunities; coordinating with overseas suppliers and internal teams on pricing, customer requirements, and shipment schedules; monitoring steel prices, competitor activity, and market trends; negotiating prices, payment terms, and supply agreements; achieving sales targets; and preparing regular sales reports and market updates for management. The role requires regular travel within Kenya and neighbouring countries to meet clients and explore new markets.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Supply Chain Management or a related field; At least five to seven years of B2B sales or business development experience; Experience in steel trading, steel manufacturing, building materials, industrial products, commodity trading, or import and export will be preferred; Good knowledge of steel products and their applications will be an added advantage; Strong customer-development, negotiation, and account-management skills; Good understanding of international trade, logistics, and commercial documentation; Experience managing the complete sales cycle, including payment follow-up and collections; Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills; Self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision; Willingness to travel regularly within Kenya and neighbouring countries.
