Responsible Mining Project Lead
Job Description
The Responsible Mining Project Lead will oversee the implementation of the CAT Gold Project in Chunya District. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing all aspects of the project, including coordinating with local stakeholders, ensuring compliance with responsible mining standards, and overseeing the technical and operational execution of mining activities. Key responsibilities include developing and implementing project plans, monitoring progress against milestones, and reporting to senior management and project partners. The role requires close collaboration with government agencies, local communities, and international partners to ensure the project aligns with environmental, social, and governance (ESG) principles. Additionally, the lead will be tasked with identifying opportunities for capacity building within the local mining workforce and ensuring the project contributes to sustainable economic development in the region.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering, Environmental Science, Geology, or a related field; Minimum of 7 years of experience in mining project management, preferably in responsible mining practices; Experience working in Tanzania or East Africa is highly desirable; Strong knowledge of ESG standards and responsible mining frameworks; Excellent project management and leadership skills; Ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders, including government officials, local communities, and international partners; Proficiency in Swahili and English (written and verbal); Experience with community engagement and conflict resolution in mining contexts.
