Software Engineer
Job Description
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Software Engineer with strong Linux expertise to design, develop, deploy, and maintain software applications and supporting infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have experience developing software in Linux environments, troubleshooting operating systems, automating system tasks, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable, secure, and scalable solutions. Key responsibilities include designing, developing, testing, and maintaining software applications and services; developing and optimizing applications for Linux-based environments; installing, configuring, administering, and troubleshooting Linux servers; writing clean, maintainable, and well-documented code; developing shell scripts and automation tools; monitoring application performance; resolving software and system issues; collaborating with DevOps, QA, and Infrastructure teams; participating in code reviews; managing source code using Git; implementing security best practices; troubleshooting production issues; staying current with emerging technologies; and recommending improvements where appropriate.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field; At least three years of professional software development experience; Strong knowledge of Linux operating systems (Ubuntu, Red Hat, CentOS, Rocky Linux, or similar systems); Proficiency in one or more programming languages (Python, Java, C++, Go, C#); Experience with Bash or shell scripting; Strong understanding of the software development lifecycle (SDLC); Experience using Git for version control; Familiarity with REST APIs and web services; Experience working with relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, or SQL Server); Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills; Excellent written and verbal communication skills; Experience with Docker and Kubernetes; Knowledge of cloud platforms (Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform); Familiarity with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitLab CI, or GitHub Actions); Experience with configuration management tools (Ansible, Puppet, or Chef); Knowledge of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, SSH, and firewalls); Experience with monitoring and logging tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack, or Nagios); Linux certifications (RHCSA, RHCE, LPIC, or CompTIA Linux+) will be an added advantage.
