Qualitative Data Transcriptionist / Transcriber

Rakai Health Sciences Program (RHSP) is seeking 10 qualified Data Transcriptionists/Transcribers to support qualitative data collection efforts. The role involves accurately transcribing audio recordings of interviews, focus group discussions, and other qualitative data sources into written text. Transcribers will work closely with research teams to ensure data integrity and confidentiality while maintaining high transcription quality standards. The position requires meticulous attention to detail, strong listening skills, and the ability to work efficiently under deadlines. Successful candidates will contribute to public health research initiatives in Rakai, Uganda, focusing on HIV/AIDS, sexual and reproductive health, and community-based interventions. This role is ideal for individuals with a background in social sciences, public health, or related fields who are passionate about qualitative research.

Diploma or degree in a relevant field such as Public Health, Social Sciences, or related disciplines; minimum of 2 years of experience in qualitative data transcription; proficiency in English and Luganda (spoken and written); excellent typing speed (minimum 50 words per minute) and accuracy; familiarity with transcription software (e.g., Express Scribe, InqScribe); strong attention to detail and ability to work under tight deadlines; experience in health research or NGO settings is an added advantage.
