Laboratory Technologist, Microbiology Section
Job Description
Receive and process specimens for Microbiology testing while ensuring adherence to standard operating procedures. Maintain and manage routine and planned preventive maintenance of laboratory equipment to ensure optimal functionality and compliance with safety standards. Perform microbiological tests efficiently, utilizing reagents appropriately to achieve expected turn-around times and accurate results. Communicate urgent, critical, or abnormal test results to clinicians within recommended timeframes, maintaining thorough documentation for traceability and patient safety. Develop and implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) in Microbiology to enhance operational efficiency and compliance with regulatory standards. Actively participate in quality improvement initiatives and patient safety programs to uphold the hospital's high standards of healthcare delivery.
Requirements
Higher Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology from a recognized institute or equivalent qualification; Registered with the Kenya Medical Laboratory Technicians and Technologists Board; Minimum 3 years of working experience in a medical laboratory setting; Proficiency in microbiological testing techniques and equipment maintenance; Strong teamwork and collaboration skills; Exceptional attention to detail; Excellent written and oral communication skills.
