Project Officer- L&R NGO Job
Job Description
This role involves coordinating and supporting the implementation of field-level activities across thematic areas including youth-focused resilience activities, climate-smart agriculture (CSA), Good Agronomic Practices (GAP), ecosystem restoration, market system development, and financial inclusion. The Project Officer will work closely with Sub-County technical teams, implementing partners, farmer organizations, and aggregators to ensure timely delivery of project interventions. Responsibilities include developing detailed work plans, adapting project activities to the ASAL (Arid and Semi-Arid Lands) context, promoting youth-led agri-preneurial opportunities, and facilitating partnerships with private sector actors, insurance providers, financial institutions, and government agencies. The role also involves preparing progress reports, supporting M&E tools, collecting and analyzing data, and representing the project in local forums and coordination meetings. Additionally, the officer will advocate for policies that promote climate-smart agriculture, Agri-nutrition, market systems development, financial inclusion, and climate resilience, while building strategic partnerships to enhance project sustainability and scalability.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Environmental Science, Development Studies, Economics, or a related field; Master’s degree is an added advantage; Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in project management, preferably in livelihoods, resilience, agriculture, or related sectors; Experience in climate-smart agriculture (CSA), market system development, and financial inclusion programs; Strong skills in project planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation (M&E); Experience in stakeholder engagement, partnership building, and advocacy; Proficiency in data collection, analysis, and reporting; Excellent communication and facilitation skills; Ability to work in ASAL contexts and adapt to challenging environments; Knowledge of Kenyan agricultural and development sectors is an added advantage.
