Project Officer

Job Description

The Project Officer will play a critical role in supporting the design, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of community-based development projects in Rwanda. This position involves working closely with local communities, government partners, and cross-functional teams to ensure project objectives are met efficiently and sustainably. The role includes coordinating with field teams to gather data, conducting needs assessments, and facilitating community engagement sessions to identify key priorities. Additionally, the Project Officer will be responsible for preparing progress reports, tracking project milestones, and ensuring compliance with donor requirements and organizational policies. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work in dynamic, multicultural environments are essential.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Development Studies, Social Sciences, Agriculture, or a related field; minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience in project management, community development, or a similar role; demonstrated experience in monitoring and evaluation (M&E) frameworks; proficiency in project planning tools (e.g., MS Project, Excel); excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Kinyarwanda; ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines; familiarity with Rwanda’s development sector and donor-funded projects is an added advantage.
