Job Description
The National Professional Officer (Political Affairs) will support the Political Affairs Section in UNMISS by conducting political analysis, monitoring developments, and providing recommendations to enhance peacebuilding efforts. The role involves liaising with government officials, civil society, and other stakeholders to gather information and assess political dynamics. The incumbent will prepare briefings, reports, and presentations for senior UNMISS leadership and contribute to strategic planning for conflict prevention and resolution. Field visits to various locations in South Sudan may be required to engage with local communities and gather firsthand information.
Requirements
Advanced university degree (Master's or equivalent) in Political Science, International Relations, Law, or related field; minimum 7 years of progressively responsible experience in political affairs, peacekeeping, or conflict resolution; strong analytical and writing skills; experience in South Sudan or similar post-conflict environments is highly desirable; fluency in English (written and spoken) is mandatory; knowledge of Arabic or a local language is an asset.
