Consultancy Services for Test Pumping and Assessments of Boreholes and Shallow Wells in West Pokot County

Job Description

The Consultant will conduct test pumping for selected boreholes and shallow wells, submitting a detailed Test Pumping Report with actionable recommendations for the client. This includes performing camera inspections of boreholes to identify structural or operational issues and submitting a Camera Inspection Report. The Consultant will also assess existing electromechanical components such as pumps, control panels, inverters, solar modules, and cabling for selected boreholes, providing a comprehensive Assessments Report with recommendations. Additionally, the Consultant will carry out water sampling and water quality analysis, including chemical (including arsenic) and biological parameters, through a KENAS-accredited laboratory. The laboratory report must indicate measured values, applicable maximum permissible limits, compliance status for each parameter, and recommendations for water suitability, treatment requirements, or corrective measures. The Consultant will engage relevant stakeholders, including the Department of Water and Environment of West Pokot, local administration, government departments, and beneficiaries, to ensure project alignment and community involvement. The role is part of the AICS-funded GROW project, focusing on improving access to safe water and inclusive WASH services for vulnerable communities, particularly women, girls, and people with disabilities.

Requirements

Registration by the Ministry of Water as a Qualified Water Contractor / Firm or equivalent with a valid registration certificate; Evidence of previous work through signed contracts or certificates of completion; Submission of a financial proposal in a bidder’s own format, itemized and broken down by activity and task, signed and stamped by the authorized representative, and submitted as a separate password-protected attachment or sealed envelope; Experience in water sampling, preservation, transportation, and laboratory analysis in accordance with applicable standard procedures; Familiarity with Kenya Standards for potable water (e.g., KS EAS 12:2018) and compliance assessment; Proficiency in analyzing physical, chemical, and microbiological parameters of water quality; Strong understanding of groundwater quality parameters, including heavy metals and nutrients; Ability to engage with stakeholders such as the Department of Water and Environment of West Pokot, local administration, and government departments.
