Volunteer Pharmaceutical Technologist

Under the guidance and supervision of the facility in charge, the pharmaceutical technologist will be involved in the day-to-day management of dispensing pharmacy operations. Primary responsibilities include overseeing the correct dispensing of pharmaceutical commodities at dispensing pharmacy units, receiving and reporting complaints and adverse drug reactions, and ensuring the availability of adequate health supplies and drugs in the pharmacy stores. The role requires strict adherence to standard operating procedures within the supply chain, monitoring of prescribing trends to identify irrational practices, and maintaining cold chain integrity for temperature-sensitive drugs. Additional duties include preparing inventory management reports (e.g., MOH monthly reports for Malaria, TB, and HIV), monitoring tracer drug availability, attending departmental meetings, and participating in training and mentorship programs. The position also involves general administrative tasks assigned by the supervisor, such as tracking drug expiries and slow-moving items.

Must have Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) or equivalent; Diploma in Pharmacy from a recognized institution; Enrolled by the Pharmacy and Poisons Board; Served in the grade of Pharmaceutical Technologist II for at least one year; Certificate in computer application skills from a recognized institution; Fluency in written and spoken English and Swahili; Good communication and writing skills; Ability to work ethically in a demanding environment; Good customer care skills; Demonstrated merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results.
