Senior Superintendent I, LOM Capex / Opex Planning Engineer
Job Description
The Senior Superintendent I, LOM Capex / Opex Planning Engineer will be responsible for creating and optimizing Life of Mine (LOM) medium- and short-term CAPEX and OPEX requirements to achieve Kamoa Copper SA's strategic objectives. This role involves prioritizing projects and capital expenditure, developing strategic extraction options, and implementing effective mine planning structures, policies, plans, and governance structures. The position requires functioning as a Mine Planning subject matter expert, driving problem-solving and continuous improvement initiatives, and managing stakeholder relationships to optimize the business value chain. Key responsibilities include forecasting, securing, and managing budgets according to the Delegation of Authority Matrix, overseeing transformation initiatives related to people, automation, digitization, and sustainability, and ensuring a strong commitment to HSEQ (Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality) standards. The role also involves managing reporting, governance, and quality assurance for the area of responsibility.
Requirements
Must have a degree in Mining Engineering; A Post Graduate degree in Mine Planning and Optimisation is an added advantage; Must have at least 8 years’ experience in LOM (Long Term Planning) and Mid-term mine planning; Must have at least 6 years’ experience in building and implementing the OPEX/CAPEX modelling; Must have at least 8 years underground mining experience; Proficiency in business English is mandatory; Working knowledge of French will be considered highly advantageous; DRC legislation knowledge; Kamoa strategic imperatives understanding; Program and project management skills; Advanced level experience of mine planning software such as Deswik and 5DPlanner for mine design, production scheduling, and schedule optimizations; Survey background; Basic understanding of Survey, Rock Engineering, Hydrology, and Ventilation; Geology and sampling knowledge; Competent in mine financial systems and related legislation; Advanced Computer literacy for role - MS Office Software; Policy development skills; Financial modeling and evaluation expertise; Mining opex and capex models knowledge; Mine Planning and Optimisation skills; Problem-solving abilities; Intrapersonal maturity; Ability to influence, persuade, and negotiate; Analytical and systematic mindset; Integrity and objectivity; Risk awareness and management; Strategic planning skills; Financial modelling and Financial Management expertise; Customer service orientation; Strong communication and presentation skills; Drive and results orientation; Flexibility and adaptability; Business acumen
