Plant Manager

Job Description

The Plant Manager is responsible for providing strategic and operational leadership to ensure the safe, efficient, and profitable operation of the manufacturing plant. This role has end-to-end accountability for achieving production, financial, and operational performance targets by optimizing plant profitability, asset reliability, supply chain integration, quality, safety, and people performance. Key responsibilities include owning the overall profitability of the plant by delivering agreed financial targets such as operating profit, production cost, and Earnings Before Income Tax (EBIT) contribution. The Plant Manager will develop, manage, and control the plant’s annual operating (OPEX) and capital (CAPEX) budgets while driving cost optimization initiatives across labor, raw materials, utilities, maintenance, logistics, and overheads without compromising safety or quality. Additionally, the role involves partnering with Commercial teams to align customer service levels and production priorities with business requirements, optimizing inventory turnover, and ensuring production planning supports business growth while maximizing plant capacity utilization. The Plant Manager will also develop and monitor plant performance dashboards, conduct root cause analysis on production losses, downtime, quality deviations, customer complaints, and cost overruns, and utilize data analytics to drive informed operational decisions. Asset reliability management is a critical component, requiring the development and implementation of preventive and predictive maintenance strategies, driving equipment reliability programs to maximize Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), and improving Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF) while reducing Mean Time to Repair (MTTR).

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field; Master’s degree is an added advantage; Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in manufacturing operations, with at least 5 years in a Plant Manager or similar senior leadership role; Proven track record in achieving financial targets, optimizing production costs, and improving operational efficiency; Strong leadership and team management skills with the ability to drive performance and accountability; Experience in developing and implementing preventive and predictive maintenance strategies; Proficiency in data analytics and performance management tools; Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills; Knowledge of safety, quality, and regulatory compliance standards; Experience in budgeting, financial planning, and cost optimization; Familiarity with supply chain integration and inventory management; Certification in relevant fields (e.g., Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing) is a plus.
