Job Description
The Infectious Diseases Research Collaboration (IDRC) is seeking two qualified Midwives to support its research initiatives focused on infectious diseases, including Malaria, HIV, and Tuberculosis. The successful candidates will be responsible for providing comprehensive midwifery care to study participants, ensuring adherence to research protocols, and maintaining accurate medical records. Duties include conducting antenatal and postnatal care, assisting with deliveries, monitoring maternal and neonatal health outcomes, and collaborating with the research team to collect and analyze data. The role involves working in community-based settings, health facilities, or research sites as determined by study requirements. Midwives will also be expected to participate in training sessions, adhere to ethical guidelines, and report any adverse events to the study coordinator. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to critical public health research in Uganda.
Requirements
Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Midwifery from a recognized institution; Valid practicing license from the Uganda Nurses and Midwives Council; Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience in midwifery; Experience in research settings or community health is an advantage; Strong communication and interpersonal skills; Ability to work in resource-limited settings; Proficiency in English and Swahili; Knowledge of local health systems and cultural practices; Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to rural areas; Commitment to ethical research practices and patient confidentiality.
