Media & Communications Officer

Job Description

We are seeking a dynamic and creative Media & Communications Officer to join our team at Encounter Church. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing our church's media presence, creating engaging content, and communicating our mission and values to the community and beyond. Key Responsibilities: - Develop and implement a comprehensive media and communications strategy to enhance the church's visibility and outreach. - Create and curate high-quality content for various platforms, including social media, website, newsletters, and press releases. - Manage and update the church's website and social media channels (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, etc.) with regular posts, videos, and updates. - Produce multimedia content such as videos, graphics, and photography to support church events, sermons, and community initiatives. - Oversee the church's branding and ensure consistency across all communication materials. - Collaborate with the pastoral team to communicate church events, programs, and messages effectively. - Monitor and analyze media trends, engagement metrics, and feedback to refine communication strategies. - Handle media relations, including responding to inquiries and coordinating interviews with church leaders. - Organize and promote church events through various media channels to maximize attendance and engagement. - Ensure all communications align with the church's mission, values, and theological principles. - Work closely with volunteers and team members to support media-related projects and initiatives. - Stay updated on digital marketing trends, tools, and best practices to enhance the church's online presence. Qualifications and Skills: - Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field. A degree in Theology or Ministry is a plus. - Proven experience in media and communications, preferably in a church or non-profit setting. - Strong writing and editing skills, with the ability to create compelling content for diverse audiences. - Proficiency in graphic design, video editing, and photography (Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, Final Cut Pro, etc.). - Experience managing social media platforms and analyzing engagement metrics. - Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English; additional languages are an advantage. - Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to multitask and meet deadlines. - Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and with volunteers. - Passion for the church’s mission and values, with a heart for ministry and community outreach. - Knowledge of SEO, content management systems (CMS), and basic HTML is a plus. - Familiarity with church management software (e.g., Planning Center, Church Community Builder) is beneficial. Personal Attributes: - Creative and innovative thinker with a passion for storytelling. - Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with church members and the community. - Adaptable and resilient, with the ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. - Commitment to integrity, professionalism, and ethical standards in all communications.

Requirements
