Farm Manager
Job Description
Our client, a pioneering agribusiness focused on building a sustainable and technology-enabled agricultural value chain in Africa, is seeking to recruit an experienced Farm Manager to lead its field operations in Sindo, Homa Bay. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving operational excellence, achieving production targets, managing farm expansion, and leading high-performing field teams. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring a results-oriented professional with strong operational, people management, and problem-solving skills. The position is based in Sindo, Homa Bay, and requires full-time on-site presence. Key Responsibilities - Lead and oversee all farm operations, ensuring production targets, quality standards, and operational KPIs are consistently achieved. - Manage the expansion of farm operations, including land development, infrastructure projects, labor planning, and operational readiness while ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget. - Supervise and develop field teams, setting performance targets, monitoring productivity, and conducting regular performance reviews. - Drive operational efficiency by identifying bottlenecks, implementing standard operating procedures (SOPs), analyzing performance data, and introducing process improvements. - Manage operational budgets, procurement, inventory, equipment maintenance, and logistics to ensure efficient use of resources and cost control. - Build and maintain positive relationships with local communities, land partners, and other stakeholders. - Prepare and present accurate operational reports, providing performance insights, recommendations, and corrective actions to support business objectives.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture, Agribusiness, Agricultural Engineering, Farm Management, or a related field. - Minimum of 5 years’ experience managing large-scale farm operations, plantations, agri-processing facilities, or similar agricultural environments. - Demonstrated experience leading large multidisciplinary field teams, managing operational performance, and driving productivity improvements. - Strong operational planning, budgeting, procurement, logistics, and resource management skills. - Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and reporting skills with proficiency in Microsoft Excel and data-driven decision-making. - Willingness to be based full-time in Sindo, Homa Bay.
