Job Description
The Driver is responsible for the safe and timely transportation of WFP staff, goods, and supplies between designated locations in Bahir Dar, Ethiopia. This role involves operating and maintaining WFP vehicles, ensuring compliance with traffic regulations, and adhering to WFP’s safety and security protocols. The driver will also assist with loading and unloading cargo, maintaining vehicle logs, and reporting any mechanical issues or incidents. The position requires a high degree of reliability, as the driver may be required to travel in challenging conditions, including remote or insecure areas. The role is critical to supporting WFP’s humanitarian operations in the region.
Requirements
Valid Ethiopian driver’s license with a clean driving record; minimum of 3 years of professional driving experience; familiarity with Bahir Dar and surrounding regions; ability to operate manual and automatic transmission vehicles; basic vehicle maintenance knowledge; strong sense of responsibility and adherence to safety protocols; willingness to travel as required; proficiency in Amharic and English (spoken and written).
