Job Description
The Accounts Payable role is responsible for the full accounts payable function, ensuring the timely and accurate processing of invoices, payments, and reconciliations. The position involves maintaining proper financial records, ensuring compliance with tax and internal control requirements, and collaborating with suppliers and internal departments to resolve payment-related issues. Key responsibilities include managing invoice verification, performing 3-way matching (Invoice, LPO, Delivery Note), posting invoices into accounting systems (SAP/ERPNext/Zoho/QuickBooks), processing vendor payments (EFT, cheque, RTGS, mobile money), ensuring correct tax deductions (WHT, WVAT, WRENT), maintaining vendor files, performing supplier account reconciliations, managing petty cash, and preparing supplier aging reports and cash flow projections. The role also involves assisting auditors by preparing required documentation and explanations.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA Section II/Level 4 or higher (preferred); 2–5 years’ experience in accounts payable or general accounting; Strong understanding of Kenyan tax laws (VAT, WHT, statutory deductions); Proficiency in accounting software (SAP, ERPNext, Zoho, QuickBooks) is an added advantage.
